Project Description:
The Main Treasury Building is a national historic landmark located at 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue and sits adjacent to the White House. It is the oldest departmental building in the country. Construction of this classic Greek revival building began in 1836 and spanned a 33 year period. The Main Treasury Building was awarded a Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in 2011 for environmentally sensitive energy saving and sustainable practices. As part of those ongoing efforts, Treasury is making conversions to light emitting diode (LED) lamps within the Main Treasury Building. To date, measures have been completed to convert all the corridor lighting and the lighting within the historic Cash Room to LEDs. The project will continue those measures by retrofitting select existing fixtures within the interior office space to LED lighting. |
